Former Queens Park Rangers trialist Davide Somma played a key role as a young Leeds United side beat Newport County this evening.
Somma played an instrumental role in Leeds United`s 2-0 victory over Newport, earning and dispatching a penalty on 34 minutes.
The striker was freed after a brief period with Rangers after failing to impress in the 2-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers last week.
The South African is looking to earn a deal in the UK following his release from the San Jose Earthquakes in May.
Meanwhile another former trialist has just been rejected by Bristol City after initially impressing Robins boss Gary Johnson.
Czech stopper Martin Lejsal was thought to be a loan target for Johnson and City, but a deal has not come to fruition, leaving Lejsal to return to FC Brno.
