Former QPR man issues three-word verdict on Adel Taarabt

|

Nigel Quashie has praised former teammate Adel Taarabt after the club looked back at some of his highlights from the 2010/11 season.

With the season halted due to the Coronavirus crisis, it has been hard for fans to get their football fix. So, clubs up and down the country have been going through the archives to share some memorable moments, with QPR tweeting a clip showing all of Taarabt’s 19 goals as they were promoted as champions under Neil Warnock almost nine years ago.

As you would expect, it went down very well with the fans, who loved the chance to look back at the Moroccan magician during his time at Loftus Road. And, it also brought a response from Quashie, who summed up Taarabt in three words on social media.

What a player!”.

Is Adel Taarabt the best player you have seen for QPR?

Yes

No

The former midfielder will have seen just how good the ex-Tottenham man was, having played with him towards the end of his own career. Quashie, who had come through the ranks with the R’s before leaving for Nottingham Forest in 1998, returned to Loftus Road in January 2010 until the end of the season.

Even though he only made four appearances after signing, he will have seen first-hand just how good Taarabt was, as he was on loan from Spurs at the time. The playmaker managed just seven goals in that campaign but he would become the club’s talisman under Warnock, taking the R’s to the Premier League 12 months later, whilst Quashie had been released after his short-term deal had expired in that summer.
