During Queens Park Rangers’ Wednesday night defeat to Bristol City at Loftus Road, former West Ham United defender James Collins was seen at the ground for the game.
Four defeats on the spin for manager Steve McClaren wrote their own headlines when it came to the game itself and our start to the season, but with the former Welsh international defender being spotted at the match, that certainly sparked talk of whether he was there with a particular intention in mind and the Bristol Post were happy to pick up on that.
The 34-year-old was well loved at West Ham but he’s been clubless since the summer and the expiry of his contract with them and despite links to Rangers and Burnley, it’s now believed that QPR could be in the mix.
As far as the rumour mill goes, it does write itself really. Out of contract, would jump at 12 months more as a minimum and given our form and experienced skipper like Collins could be a match made in heaven.
They also say that Sebastian Bassong is training with us as he eyes a potential short-term deal having spent the last 12 months out of the game.
#QPR sign James Collins Was at the game tonight at least that guy has heart and play Hall think they god sure up a defence!

The were plenty more positive comments about him incoming, but there are also strong rumours that he could be set for a return to West Ham so we’ll have to wait and see.
NB – Spotted claims since publishing that he was there officially as a Bristol City guest, so that has to be considered.
