Sam Allardyce has been touted by the national media as the possible new manager of Nottingham Forest.

The former Bolton boss has been out of work since leaving Newcastle in January 2008 and would grace the City Ground with a vast array of experience in the second tier.

Two years a piece at Blackpool and Notts County, got him the job at the Reebok Stadium, where the Trotters flourished under his guidance and claimed a place in Europe.

He left for pastures new in May 2007 and Newcastle United – but only lasted eight months at the helm in St. James`s Park, with Kevin Keegan returning once more.

Allardyce has had a fleeting interest in various roles including the Blackburn role, which was well-documented.

Forest currently at the foot of the Championship table already five points from safety, and fans have expressed their discontent at current manager Colin Calderwood – who only saved his job last season through getting the reds promoted.

It remains to be seen whether or not this rumour will come to fruition, however it would be quite the coup for Forest who have not managed to live up to their pre-season expectations.

Forest come to Loftus Road on Saturday November 18 with a view to propelling themselves from the trap door.
