The Football League will meet next month to discuss the future of Queens Park Ranger co-owner Flavio Briatore.

His position centres around the Crashgate scandal in Formula One, in which he has been charged and found guilty for his involvement in Nelson Piquet Jnr’s crash in Singapore.

He received an indefinite ban from Formula One from any action within the sport including driver management.

This puts him in direct violation of the ‘Fit and Proper Person Test’ which stipulates that an owner or prospective owner should not be “subject to a ban from a sports governing body relating to the administration of their sport.”

The Football League will now meet to discuss his future in the game in light of this latest development in Formula One and whether he can remain chairman of QPR Holdings.

With rumours of Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal looking to increase his shareholding within the club in a bid to boost his PR – Flavio Briatore’s reign at QPR could be coming to a tumultuous close.
