In an interview with BBC Radio Humberside, Hull City manager Phil Brown moved to quash speculation that striker Caleb Folan would be joining QPR on loan.

Although preferred striker Marlon King`s back injury appears to be improving on a daily basis, with the possibility that the injury could recur, Brown feels that it would be “remiss of me to let a player go out on loan to the Championship.’

He added that Folan was a quality striker and had previously been a threat for the Tigers and, as the club were not a selling club, QPR would have to offer a serious amount of money to tempt Hull into selling. “Unless they were talking absolutely ridiculous money we are not a selling club”, Brown remarked.

Folan joined Hull from Wigan in August 2007 for £1mn. In 40 games for the Tigers, Folan has scored 10 goals, including the goal that won the game for Hull against Fulham on the opening day of the 2008/09 season, giving the club their first-ever win in the Premier League.

Brown`s comments to the radio station suggest that the Folan rumour was at least true, considering some of the rumours that have been flying around recently! It should also hearten Rs fans that the club are serious about trying to find a striker to supplement the forward team.

Clearly, however, it will not be easy – we may all have to be a little patient. We don`t want the club to rush out and bring in the first player that they can, just because he`s a striker, if he is not going to enhance the forward line. Right now, I think it is better to play with the players we`ve got, than bring in the wrong player on loan.
