Rangers Co-Owner Flavio Briatore has stated that he will decide ultimately where the clubs money is spent.

Speaking to the BBC Mr. Briatore revealed his possessiveness when it comes to his finances, and how he goes about his business.

‘I don’t trust anyone with my money. Sometimes I will ask the manager of the bank but not the coach,’ Flavio told the BBC.

‘This is our money which we want to spend in our direction. We will use the knowledge of the coach but I believe everybody needs to do their own job.”

Rangers current boss Iain Dowie has been rumoured in the past to be at conflict with the hierarchy of the club, rumours disputed by both Dowie and the club. However this latest statement by the Rangers Co-Owner may give the fan an insight as to why a rift may have appeared.

Evidently QPR is becoming an English club with a continental flair, and the management approach to football on the continent is vastly different from the traditional English model. In Iain Dowie Rangers have a very hands-on boss, who analyses everything to the core to the point of self-professed over-analysis on occasions.

With Dowie`s approach possibly conflicting here with the words of Mr. Briatore, it is clear why the two may have been at loggerheads in how to spend Rangers wealth.

‘I want everyone to take the responsibility for one sector. I don’t want a one-man band.’ Briatore continued,

‘We have a vision. We want to motivate people for the project. It is not only a question of money but its a question of complicity between management and players.’

Rangers currently sit ninth in the Championship, three points off leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers in the early stages of the season. Rangers excellent home form has seen them progress to a mouth-watering League Cup Third Round tie against Aston Villa at the end of this month.
