Jim Magilton has spoken today about the release of the Championship fixtures which see the R`s pitted against Ian Holloway`s Blackpool on the opening day.

On a day where the Rangers boss held an informal meeting with the entire staff he was keen to stress the feeling of teamwork through previous experience indicating: “there is no greater feeling in life than being part of a successful team.”

After this he spoke with QPR.co.uk about the forthcoming campaign and how important it will be to take momentum from a positive start.

“August is a very important month it`s nice if you can build up some momentum and momentum is a very important ingredient in football, said Jim.

“We`ll obviously be looking to get off to a good start, Olly`s going to come here and make it very difficult for us. It`ll be an exciting week, an exciting build up and then when it gets underway you`ll be able to relax and hopefully as I say get off to a really good start.

“After that we`ve got three away games, we`ve got Exeter away, Plymouth away and Bristol City away so it`ll be a nice little trip to the West Country and hopefully we`ll come back with some points in the bag there.

“Nottingham Forest at home is another really attractive game, I know Billy Davies` side will come and play attractive football. Again hopefully we`ll have points in the bag and go into that game full of confidence.”

Magilton was keen to stress the importance of setting realistic targets for upcoming fixtures, not to hinder the players but mentally prepare them for the importance of each match.
The final day of the campaign sees QPR host recently relegated Newcastle United with both sides eyeing a positive finish in the higher echelons of the Championship – Magilton is already looking forward to the spectacle the final game will bring.

“Newcastle have ambitions, and quite rightly so, of getting automatic promotion, we have our own ambitions and let`s hope both sides have got plenty to play for on the last game.

“I know it`ll be a really exciting end to the season, they bring fans in their hoards and it should be a really exciting day and hopefully a full house.

“I think this is really when it kicks in the holiday mode is finally over and thoughts now turn to football and we can`t wait to get started.”

Magilton begins the campaign at home to Ian Holloway`s Blackpool before a trip to the West Country to face Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle and Bristol City respectively.

The new look duo of Magilton and his assistant John Gorman will undoubtedly be looking to assert their impetus on the Championship sooner rather than later and challenge at the right end of the table.
