Feeling Lethargic

I wonder just how many QPR fans, similar to yours truly are feeling lethargic about the new season.

A new beginning, a fresh start blah, blah but for some weird and wonderful reason (I can’t put my finger on it) I simply can’t drum enough interest to warrant thinking about whether we’ll be title contenders, relegation fodder or whether we’ll have a good run in the EFL or FA Cup competitions.

Money and transfer action

At the end of last season Ollie was quoted as saying, regarding bringing in new faces:

‘It’s going to take another couple of windows.’

I presume he means finding the right players on a free.

Players in (as of 5 July)
Jack Scowen – free

Players out
Michael Doughty to Peterborough United (Undisclosed)
Ben Gladwin to Blackburn Rovers (Undisclosed)
Karl Henry – released

Ollie about about the clubs financial status…

‘We’re not moving forward money-wise, we’ll be moving backwards.’

‘Other clubs might be adding to their budgets, but we’ve thrown a load of money away and we’re not going to do that anymore.

‘Hopefully, with the new scouting network I’m putting together, I’ll be able to coach and I’ll be able to get people I can have.’

Do you believe in Ian Holloway?

Loftus Road record

2001/2002 – League One – finished 8th
2002/2003 – League One – finished 4th
2003/2004 – League One (Promoted to Championship) – finished 2nd
2004/2005 – Championship – finished 11th
2005/2006 – Championship (at time of departure) – finished 15th
2016/2017 – Championship – finished 18th

Ollie is no mug, correct. But do you believe?

Relegation odds

It depends on where you look but the odds, in general are around 4/1. That makes Burton as favourites, then Barnsley, Bolton, Millwall, Ipswich and then QPR.

Half empty

My glass, for the forthcoming season is half empty. What’s yours?
