THE Football Association has put another sizeable dent into their ever-dwindling reputation by rejecting Shaun Derry’s red card appeal.

Once again football supporters are left dumbfounded by another baffling decision by the FA, this time with QPR midfielder the recipient of a rejected red card appeal.

The decision in question surrounds a tumble taken by Ashley Young in the 14th minute of Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Easter Sunday.

Supporters and media pundits have slammed Young for what can only be construed as an attempt to con referee Lee Mason – successfully so given the subsequent decision to award a penalty and send off the veteran midfielder.

The Football Association regulatory commission viewed the incident and rejected the appeal today (April 10) and subsequently avoid the difficulty of having to take retrospective action against United winger Young.

To add insult to injury Young was markedly offside, one of a trio of poor decisions that led to Derry leaving the field inside the opening 15 minutes at Old Trafford.

Derry will now miss the fixture tomorrow night against Swansea City, while referee Mason will take charge of Manchester City against West Bromwich Albion – there’s justice for you.
