After three years of hard work you saw the R’s promoted to Division 1 – How could you best describe the day?

Promotion was the climax of 2 years hard work and got the club back towards where it deserves to be. To see so many hooped shirts inside Hillsborough was an amazing sight and to celebrate in the crowd after with my wife and so many friends was a great feeling. Also we had a hell of a party all the way home on the coach and it was carried on back with the coach load of fans and friends that had travelled from Stevenage long into the night you know who you all are!!!

What was it like working for the charismatic Ian Holloway?

Working with Ollie was a fantastic experience not at least for the fact we got all the one liners before you did!! On a serious note I felt he put a lot of pride and passion back into the club and was the sort of ‘Gaffer’ that you could talk to about anything , whether it be football or personal . You only have to read his book to be inspired and get an insight to everything that went on.

Is there anyone you keep in touch with at QPR past or present?

I don`t keep in touch with any of the lads in particular but my wife and I get over to at least 3 or 4 games a season to catch up and enjoy the atmosphere before and after. We both made a lot of friends who supported the club during our time at QPR and still see most of them a lot now.

Have you had any offers since leaving Millwall, what have you been up to?

I am currently looking for a team for this season and in the meantime training at Watford to keep sharp and getting the odd reserve run out to keep on my toes as I haven`t played since December after the ankle surgery

Rangers have spent big recently as I’m sure you’re aware – What do you think of the current crop of goalkeepers at the R’s disposal?

I think the club will be well looked after in the keeping department this season. Campy did well last term and after working with him at close quarters is one of the top younger keepers in the championship and with Radek Cerny coming in from my team Spurs will have a real tussle over the jersey- will be interesting to see who gets the nod but I don`t think anyone in the championship have 2 more capable keepers

Finally, where do you want/expect Rangers to be come the end of the season?

With all the new found wealth coming in I would expect a top 10 finish and would love to see the club promoted or make the play offs ( which if they do I will be there to experience it!) . Hopefully the club will still remain the peoples club still because that`s what The Rs are all about.

IN PROFILE

Chris Day joined the R`s from Watford in July 2001, after spells with Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, Watford and Lincoln City. He joined Ian Holloway and Kenny Jackett with Rangers in administration and only 8 squad players in pre-season, with a plethora of trialists on display.

Day went onto make some memorable performances for Rangers, most notably his one man wall against Blackpool in a 1-0 win, as well as ‘that save` against Oldham Athletic in the play-off semi final. 87 appearances for Day in total in an injury interrupted 4 years in W12, after Matthew Rose`s hospital pass against Oldham saw to it he was out for in excess of 17 months.

Daisy had loan spells with Aylesbury and Preston North End before being released to Oldham in August 2005, since then he has moved to Millwall where he was until leaving at the end of the 2007/08 season. He has been training with Watford with a view to finding a club.

Vital QPR would once again like to personally thank Chris Day for his contribution
