Ian Holloway has emerged as the favourite for the vacant Walsall post.

The former Rangers boss has been out of work since parting ways with Leicester City at the end of last season. This followed his failure to keep them in the Championship, combined with Milan Mandaric`s erratic behaviour when it comes to managers.

Former boss, Jimmy Mullen, was given his marching orders at the Bescot Stadium following a string of poor results, which the club stated was damaging to attendances.

Holloway has been in the frame for several jobs but this is the only work for which the former Rangers boss has appeared the front runner. His fleeting interest in the job at Swindon Town came to an end as the Robins appointed the experienced Danny Wilson.

The Bristol born boss guided Rangers to promotion from Division Two (League One) as runners up to Champions Plymouth Argyle. He won 100 of his 252 games in charge at QPR, giving him an excellent win average of 40%.
