Queens Park Rangers winger Hogan Ephraim wants the R`s to kick off their season in style and dispel the poor away form of last campaign.

The winger is another in a long line of players to pour scorn on last year`s performances as he looks forward to the coming campaign.

Fixtures such as the opening day against Blackpool and the midweek trip to Newcastle United caught Hogan`s eye – but the former West Ham United forward was surprised by the long distances that would have to be covered in the early stages.

‘When I first saw the fixtures, I have to say I was stunned by how much travelling we’ve got in those first couple of weeks, Hogan told QPR.co.uk.

‘Having said that, there’s an opportunity for us to make a good start.

‘Obviously every game is going to be tough, but we’ve got to approach them with confidence.”

Ephraim wants to use the early games as a springboard to rectify the disappointment of last season, believing that getting points on the board quickly would lay down a marker for the remainder of the campaign.

He said: ‘That’s going to be difficult but we’ve got to see it as an early chance to put things right.

‘Quite frankly, our away form last year was terrible.

‘We know that cost us, so if we can get some good results on our travels in the opening four or six weeks, it would be great.

‘It would lay down a marker about what we want to achieve.’

The former West Ham man was converted from a winger to a central midfielder to great effect last season by former boss Paulo Sousa.

He made 29 appearances for Rangers last season scoring a solitary goal away at Blackpool.
