Rangers boss Iain Dowie has hit out at critics following the Blackpool game as he stood by his tactics.

The R`s had a lacklustre first period last night against Blackpool, with some fans calling for “4-4-2” to be restored, but Dowie backed his players to play regardless of formation:

‘There’s an obsession in this country with systems, but it’s about the players out there,’ Dowie told Sky Sports,

‘We just didn’t get going enough. We could have been 2-0 up at half-time and then there would have been no talk about systems.”

‘We’ve scored four at home twice this season using the system we started with tonight, and Emmanuel Ledesma got a hat-trick playing in it a couple of weeks ago.”

‘We’ve made a decent start to the season with that formation, reached the last 16 of the Carling Cup and are eighth in the table – one win away from fourth place.’

Three defeats in a row sandwiching an excellent cup win, have been played out under the 4-5-1 formation as well as many other victories as Dowie alluded to.

However are we winning because of the formation, or in spite of it?

You can vote on the subject using the front page link or even suggest a poll of your own.

In our previous poll 67% of fans believed that the new owners had not spent enough in the recently closed transfer window – meaning the R`s had not fared well at all in the deals they picked up.

25% of fans believed the R`s have spent enough already, however I feel the voting system may have been tapped by other Championship fans in a desperate attempt to scupper the R`s progress… The remaining 8% were uncertain.
