Dowie goes!

A short, rather terse, statement on the QPR official website states simply that, after 15 games in charge, manager Ian Dowie`s contract has been terminated, with immediate effect.

Gareth Ainsworth has been placed in temporary charge of the First team, as “Caretaker Manager” until further notice.

This sacking has been called for by many fans, although I personally would have preferred to see the same manager in charge for a full season as I feel that the last thing our club needs is the instability of management change.

Since Ian Holloway`s departure, we have had five managers – that is not the sort of stability that is needed to build for the future or build up confidence. Who will want to come to us now, knowing that, if things go wrong for a little while, the chances are that person will lose their job?

Dowie was not a popular choice when appointed, but surely he should have been given a reasonable chance? After all, we are 9th in the League at the moment and in the last 16 of the Carling Cup – a feat certainly not achieved this time last year, when Gregory was shown the door!
