Iain Dowie comments on the deal that takes Jake Cole to Oxford United on loan indicating that it may not be the end of the road.

Dowie spoke following the announcement of a three-month loan deal at the Kassam Stadium:

‘Jake has returned in good shape and is a great lad to have around the squad, but at his age he needs to be playing competitive matches,’ Dowie told QPR.co.uk.

‘He’s really impressed me with his professionalism and character and this is a great opportunity for him, in a very competitive standard of football.’

Dowie continued

‘He’ll get some high profiles games there. They play Manchester United and Portsmouth in pre-season and they’re on Setanta twice early on, so it’s a great chance for him to compete at the sharp end.’

The 22 year old stopper has had limited chances at Loftus Road making his most recent appearance on the penultimate game of the 2006/07 season against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Cole will be in the U`s squad for local friendlies against Brackley Town and Banbury United, and embarks on his fourth loan spell away from the club previously playing for Hayes, AFC Wimbledon and Farnborough.
