Preston North End have been given a double injury boost ahead of their trip to Loftus Road this weekend.

The Lilywhites had previously ruled out defender Callum Davidson after spending five weeks on the sidelines with a torn hamstring.

However Preston boss Alan Irvine has revealed that the 33-year-old full-back has been training with the younger players in his squad in a bid to regain full fitness in time for the weekend.

‘Callum will hopefully be joining in with us by the back end of this week,” Irvine told the Lancashire Evening Post.

‘He did some training with the young professionals yesterday afternoon, so he is getting closer to full fitness.

‘We’re having him scanned just to make sure there is no longer a problem in there, and providing there’s not, Callum can step-up his training again.

‘It might be that he’s ready for the QPR game, we’ll just see how he is as the week goes on and see what results we get from the scan.”

Some more positive news for the visitors this weekend is the return of summer signing Paul Parry from a similar injury to that of Davidson.

The versatile midfielder has been back in training for a week and is available for selection this weekend, as Irvine told of his delight over the double boost.

‘He (Parry) has been back with the group since last Wednesday and has been training well.

“We’ve really missed Paul, he’s a very good player and gives us plenty of options with being able to play wide right, wide left and through the middle.

‘If we can get both him and Callum playing again, the squad would look healthier.’

QPR host Preston North End this weekend at Loftus Road, and Parry will be looking to add to his two goals against the R’s in his last four appearances.

In 16 meetings at Loftus Road, the teams have got the better of each other five times, with six draws between the outfits.
