Rangers loanees found the going tough away from Loftus Road this week as Vital QPR assesses their performances.

What was set to be one of the footballing spectacles of the day took place at the Hawthornes, and while Watford were in fine form it was the home side that hit the ground running.

Defender Jonas Olsson handed the Baggies the lead, who knew a win would take them back to the top of the league for the time being.

Graham Dorrans’ spot kick doubled the advantage before Luke Moore struck minutes after half time. QPR man Heidar Helguson took to the field in a bid to reduce the deficit.

As it was defender Gianni Zuiverloon and Simon Cox made it look comfortable as Malky Mackay’s men had a much-needed reality check.

Young defensive duo Joe Oastler and Lee Brown started for Salisbury City in their home challenge against fellow relegation fodder Gateshead.

Brown was returning from a one-match suspension after his sending off in the FA Cup against Farnborough, while Oastler retained his familiar spot in a holding role.

Oastler was booked shortly after the hour mark, and despite dominating chances and possession they fell behind with five minutes remaining.

Peter Winn, a striker on loan from Championship Scunthorpe United snatched a goal with minutes remaining in a smash and grab for the Tynesiders.

Loan striker Antonio German remained on the bench for his side as they claimed a creditable draw away to Rotherham United.

Despite not hitting one of their seven attempts on target German remained rooted to the bench, with even top scorer Marvin Morgan having to be content with a ten minute cameo.
