Better news on striker Samuel Di Carmine as an injury that appeared to have put pay to his loan spell isn`t as serious as first feared.

Samuel Di Carmine took a heavy knock on his ankle on Saturday`s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. He was subsequently carried off on a stretcher in visible pain with a splint covering his injured leg.

Some feared that this would put pay to his loan spell from Fiorentina and he would return to La Viola for further treatment.

However Physio Paul Hunter revealed to QPR.co.uk that Di Carmine may return from injury sooner than initially expected:

‘Sami took quite a big kick on his ankle but it has settled down nicely since Saturday night and it’s not a serious injury,

‘We’ll continue to monitor his progress over the coming days, but I’m quite confident he’ll be back in full training soon.’

Di Carmine started in a lone strikers role against Nottingham Forest and was eventually carried off just before the hour mark and replaced by Dexter Blackstock.

Samuel has scored two goals since his summer arrival from Fiorentina and his moment of glory came as Rangers beat Birmingham City at home with ten men.
