FORMER Queens Park Rangers forward Leon Clarke will never play for Swindon Town again according to manager Paolo di Canio

The 26-year-old striker that Rangers released only on August 19 has now been given the axe by new boss Di Canio.

Signing for Swindon on the day of his release, Clarke and the club had hopes for him firing them to promotion.

After only 11 days Clarke had an altercation with fitness coach Claudio Donatelli following a 3-1 defeat Southampton – sparking a confrontation between he an di Canio.

The hot-headed manager slammed his forward to the BBC: ‘Fortunately, he’s out now – even if he’s under contract. He’s never going to play with my team again, never.

‘He doesn’t deserve to wear the Swindon Town shirt in front of the fans.’

He continued: ‘Here we are professional, he didn’t want to be professional.

‘We work hard, he didn’t want to work – he is absolutely a lazy person.’

So after a two year contract was signed Clarke is now on the scrap heap at the County Ground awaiting his inevitable departure.

Clarke made 13 appearances for QPR without troubling the scorers. A bit of a gamble, as Neil Warnock labelled him, has well and truly slumped.
