Vital QPR has learned that Dexter Blackstock could have been on his way to a Championship rival in the January transfer window.

Sources close to the club have revealed to Vital QPR that Dexter was the subject of a bid from Nottingham Forest in this year`s January transfer window – however the deal was scuppered due to an injury to fellow forward Patrick Agyemang.

The injury took place in training on Wednesday January 7, putting pay to any deal for Blackstock to move to the City Ground.

This news comes as Blackstock revealed to Ben Kosky of the Kilburn Times that he is yet to pen a new deal at Loftus Road:

‘I haven’t signed a new contract because I haven’t been offered a contract to sign” said the R`s top scorer.

‘I’ve got less than 18 months remaining on my present contract and, until I’m offered another one, I can’t sign it. Nothing’s been said about it at the moment.’

The 22-year-old forward has 12 goals for the R`s so far this campaign, but has suffered like many of the R`s striking options since the turn of the year, only scoring a solitary header against Coventry City. A game in all probability he wouldn`t have played in had Patrick Agyemang not suffered a timely thigh injury.
