Shaun Derry has revealed that he is untroubled by the R’s lack of spending – indicating that team spirit is the key.

Speaking to talkSPORT the midfielder revealed that while QPR’s perceived lack of spending has been well-documented, the team spirit could be a decisive factor.

‘I know everybody is saying how much QPR are spending but we didn’t spend bundles last year to get out of the Championship and that proves what a good job Neil has done.

‘We’ve got a hell of a team spirit there as well, QPR has always been spoken about as a family club but we’ve got a family atmosphere there and hopefully the two new signings can jump on board and join us in that respect.’

Reports that Derry is on the verge of a return to Crystal Palace have been quashed, and the midfielder is looking forward to a season in the top flight with Rangers.

The veteran midfielder made 45 appearances for QPR last season.
