Central defender Matthew Connolly could be out for the remainder of the season according to reports today.

While the truth may be significantly less dramatic, the Ealing Gazette have entertained the idea that the glandular fever blighting Connolly’s good start to the season may well put pay to his season.

Jim Magilton refused to be drawn on a date for Connolly’s potential return, but the newspaper reported that the fever may have affected the defender’s spleen – and he would have to wait another month once being given the all clear.

While the end of the season may be the worst case scenario, it is a possibility according to the reports. Nevertheless the R’s will be hopeful to have him among their ranks much sooner.

  • Not on central ones I don’t think. I agree we may need another player that can play left-back. In the middle, Ramage, Gorkss, Hall (back soon), Stewart, Oastler. We have only one left-back with Connolly adept at covering, so there we need to strengthen!

  • Helguson was proven Ozanne, just hasn’t lived up to the hype. Who is to say a Kevin Phillips wouldn’t bomb either? Brett Angell, scored hatfulls for every club he played for, for us – nothing. Just the way it is sometimes.

  • How does everything move to needing a striker or Flavio? Honestly I think on on form HH back is all we need. Back to the point though, I agree we need a LB rather than a centre back.

  • I’ve been AWOL for a while but LCF you’ve brought me back with that one- you honestly believe that the Icelander is exactly what we need?!??!?! Words escape me.

  • Blimey, people have been at the funny mushrooms again! HH on form? Hell, he’s barely fit and still (at the age of 31) has no clue about the offside law. At least, a very boring Thursday has been lit up with humour.

  • Two goals in a game for a club where he’s not hounded and given the opportunity to play football – a decent return. Hope he finds consistency and brings it back to LR. I must say the way he’s been treated by our fans is disgusting.
