Queens Park Rangers defender Matt Connolly has made the Championship Team of the Week after his performance at Blackpool.

Connolly’s overall display at full-back was competent but it was his goal that undoubtedly pushed him into the reckoning.

The former Arsenal defender latched onto some good hold up play by Antonio German to take two touches on the volley, before hitting a rasping, dipping volley beyond Paul Rachubka.

It was just deserts for QPR who deserved a point for their second half resilience and Connolly drew the plaudits for his stunning solo effort.

Meanwhile ‘Pool midfielder Charlie Adam also deservedly made the team after a good display from the middle of the park.

The team was as follows:

Stephen Bywater (Derby County)
Matt Connolly (Queens Park Rangers)
Liam Fontaine (Bristol City)
Louis Carey (Bristol City)
Gareth Roberts (Doncaster Rovers)
Jermaine Johnson (Sheffield Wednesday)
Michael O’Connor (Scunthorpe United)
Charlie Adam (Blackpool)
Peter Whittingham (Cardiff City)
Richard Cresswell (Sheffield United)
Dudley Campbell (Derby County)
