Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies was happy to finally capture Dexter Blackstock on loan until the end of the season.

Blackstock joined the Tricky Trees today (Thursday) and his new boss Billy Davies told nottinghamforest.co.uk of his delight.

He said: ‘I’m sure he will prove to be a great acquisition.

‘It’s no secret that we have been looking for a certain type of striker and Dexter certainly fits that bill.

‘I’ve been watching him with great interest for several seasons and he’s got all the attributes of a top striker.

‘Most importantly he scores goals but he’s also got presence and good movement in his play.

‘In addition to getting goals himself I’m sure he will provide a lot of openings for others.’

Dexter`s input could be key to Forest`s survival this season with the Reds currently two points adrift in the drop zone, facing relegation back to League One.

Despite being the R`s top goalscorer Dexter has failed to hit the back of the net in his last nine matches prompting his slide down the pecking order in W12.

A confidence player, Blackstock has proven in the past that he has what it takes to fire teams away from relegation danger, and Billy Davies will be hoping he emulates this at the City Ground.

Forest’s interest in the striker was broken exclusively on Vital QPR back on March 11.
