FIA president Max Mosley has given his reaction to the media scrum that awaited him following the ruling in Paris.

Renault F1 were given a two year suspended sentence for the incident, while Flavio Briatore was banned from the sport indefinitely in all capacities.

Speaking to the media, including the BBC outside of the hearing, Mosley believed that the ruling while it was the harshest they could have given, it was also the fairest.

On Mr Briatore he was saddened that a man he once deemed as aligned with ‘the loonies’, had fallen from grace in such a manner.

“I think the blame has been placed where the blame should be placed and I think that’s the right decision, said Mosley.

“It’s sad because he’s been in motor sport for 20 years, at the top level and it’s sad to see a career end here but what else could we do.”

The Football League will now meet next month to decide whether Flavio Briatore should have to give up his stake in Queens Park Rangers in line with the Fit and Proper Persons Test.
