Coyle – You See Them Given

Burnley boss Owen Coyle believe that his side were perhaps a tad fortunate to escape two penalty appeals, but overall believes his side deserved the win.

The Clarets boss has a 100% record against the R`s in W12, both games coming from behind, last year it was the recently retired Andy Cole`s hatrick; now it was the turn of Robbie Blake and Alan Mahon to turn the game on its head.

However the game could have followed a different pattern had Mr Woolmer seen two incidents that Coyle believes could have been given as penalties:

‘Away from home there are always going to be spells where you have to deal with pressure, and Queens Park Rangers had that.

‘They had two or three appeals for a penalty and I’ve seen days they’ve been given.

‘But it wasn’t, and I think we thoroughly deserved the three points over the piece.”

Off the back of an impressive win over Rangers` West London rivals Chelsea, Burnley secured the double in W12 to round off a thoroughly enjoyable week:

‘With Wolves away, Chelsea away and QPR away it was going to be a daunting task, but all credit to the players because they have shown the desire they have to play for the football club.

‘It was going to be a big ask today, given the exertions of the midweek win, but I thought we started the game well and actually felt a bit aggrieved to be a goal down.

‘But the spirit and desire the lads have for each other was so evident, and it was there in abundance.

‘To come back, after everything we’ve done during the week, just shows the strength of character we have to go with the ability.’
