Queens Park Rangers winger Lee Cook explained that his injury woes are coming to an end as he looks to complete his rehabilitation.

Cook has been out for a lengthy period after having key-hole surgery in the summer, but the QPR wide-man has admitted while it`s frustrating he`s doing everything he can to get back into training.

Cook told QPR.co.uk: “I’m doing really well, obviously I’m here all the time I’m probably doing two sessions a day. I’m really working so hard to try and get out there as soon as I can.

“Obviously it`s a lot of work trying to build your muscle up, because I`ve got a lot of muscle wastage through having six weeks of non-weight baring.

“At the minute I`m doing really well, double sessions every day. From my point of view I`ve got no pain during rehab which I`ve not had for a long time – for me I`m really seeing the light now.”

Cook is hoping his rehabilitation with be complete with a final consultation with his surgeon on Tuesday September 22, the day before the Chelsea clash.

While he will not take a part in the West-London derby, being given the opportunity to get out the training field and get back to peak fitness is enough reward for the self-professed QPR fan.

Cook stressed the importance of pre-season, reminiscing about a former time under Ian Holloway’s tenure, where he professed he could have played another 90 minutes following the first fixture.

This pr-season has been very different with Cook forced to watch on as his colleagues get back to work and down to the business of playing Championship football.

For Cook it was one of the most testing times of his career, both physically and mentally having to miss out of his pre-season.

“It`s been the worst time frustration wise of my career,” Cook continued.

“Everyone`s come in buzzing for pre-season I was watching on my crutches and the tempo was frightening, everyone was loving new training and everyone was getting fit and pre-season is such an important time for footballers.

“It`s just one of those things, I was just sitting there watching it on my crutches and everyone`s getting fit. So in that case, on my mind it was quite hard, the first eight weeks were shocking but I got through that and I`m nearing the end of it.”

Cook made 38 appearances for QPR last season, scoring with an excellent free-kick away to the eventually relegated Charlton Athletic.

His wing-work in the past has lit up Loftus Road, being a key catalyst for Rangers survival under John Gregory in 2007.
