Cook: A Cardiff Point No Good For Us

Lee Cook speaks in the build up to the Cardiff fixture tonight indicating that Rangers won`t settle for a point.

Cook spoke to QPR.co.uk ahead of tonight`s test at Ninian Park believing that Rangers must dust themselves down and claim three valuable points in their playoff push.

“A point`s no good – we need three” said Cook

“It`s always a big game against them something special for the fans, always QPR-Cardiff is a big game, atmosphere`s good. They drew at Wolves Saturday I think and they should have won the game I think but the keeper made a bit of a howler at the end there.

“They`re a strong team, they`re full of confidence and especially after Saturday we`ve got to pick ourselves up because if we go there and not be confident we`ll get stuffed.

“So we`ve got to pick ourselves up, dust down and be ready for it, because it`s going to be a tough game, but we can go there and win no problem.”

The left winger also took a look back at what went wrong in the 3-1 defeat at home to Ipswich Town, when Samuel Di Carmine`s early goal was cancelled out by Jon Stead, with Pablo Counago and Jon Walters sealing a comfortable win for the Tractor Boys.

Cook believed that there was a vast improvement in Rangers performance in the second period and Counago`s strike was a bitter blow to their chances.

He said: “I think Ipswich played us well they played to the way we were playing really, they kept it tight four in the middle and they started winning all the second balls after we got the goal.

“We dropped off a bit too deep and allowed them to play. Quinn and Miller were getting far too much time on the ball and they were spraying it about quite well. We came in at half time, had a chat. I thought we came out second half and started to play some decent stuff.

“We got into dangerous areas out wide and got some decent balls in but that second goal killed us really after coming out in the second half and starting so well it was a bit of a blow to us.

“We tried to pass it around quite a lot, the pitch didn`t help it was causing us a bit of problems but we`ve got to put it behind us we`ve got two massive games now. Our away form`s been decent of late so we`ve got to put that behind us and Cardiff`s a massive game so win that and Ipswich is forgotten.

“As I said we`ve got to move on and forget about it, that was a bad performance let`s move on.”

The R`s face Cardiff City this evening at Ninian Park with a kick off time at 7:45 – with the R`s missing out on points at home they must once again go on their travels in search of the necessary points to stay in contention at the top.
