QUEENS Park Rangers defender Matt Connolly has joined Reading on loan until the end of the season

Signing under Luigi de Canio in 2008 from Arsenal, Connolly has made over 100 appearances for QPR – giving a good contribution to Rangers’ promotion last season.

He joins his former defensive colleague of last campaign, Kaspars Gorkss – who will have the chance once again to work with the 24-year-old defender.

With Rangers netting two defenders in Taye Taiwo and Nedum Onouha, the writing was somewhat on the wall for a fringe player such as Connolly who has been limited to seven appearances this season.
