We asked for your memories of clashes gone by with Chelsea, and you didn’t disappoint!

In New Zealand in the 70’s and early 80’s we were treated to one match on T.V a week. It was shown on the Sunday eight days after it was played !

QPR were rarely on, (1975-76 against Liverpool was one occasion) but they did show Chelsea V QPR at a super muddy Stamford Bridge in the 1980-81 season.

Tommy Langley had just joined us in august 1980 from Chelsea and scored with a mishit effort in a 1-1 draw. Petar Borota was in goal from them that day and complained to his Gaffer, Geoff Hurst, that he would have saved the shot if Langley had connected with the ball properly!

Langley’s celebration in front of the Chelsea fans still gets up the nose of Blues followers with long memories! In those days we didn’t even own a video recorder so I taped the commentary from the t.v onto a cassette tape to enjoy over and over.

It’s got to be the Milk Cup quarter final. The first game at LR was an absolute corker, 1-1 Johnny Byrne scores an absolute gem and I remember just getting back home to Chelmsford to watch the highlights on the Beeb.

Then of course the replay at Stamford Bridge on a sh*tty pitch, Alan McDonald at close range and Michael Robinson from the halfway line (or am I dreaming this bit?)! A young Alan Mcdonald being immense on that night headering and booting everything away.

At that time he hadn’t yet reached Rangers Legend status and I remember having a conversation with some lads before kick off about how dodgy he was, ha ha ha!

The 6 – 0 thrashing is up there as well of course but I always remember those two games as more of a highlight for some reason.

Oh and another thing, Gary Bannisters exceptional goal scoring record against them. I think he scored as well as Mark Stein (?) at LR when Chelsea were dressed in that horrible mint green number, who remembers that?! A kit that only a team of w****** would wear.

QPR4Me added: ‘Was in the West Stand for that game. The silence from the CFC lot when MR’s goal went in was breathtaking. A little bit less fun outside of the ground thanks to their neanderthals, but well worth it in the end!’

For me it has to be the 6-0 in 1986 we had played them away a few weeks before and got a 1-1 and should have won the game but this result came out of the blue!!

Never have I been at a game like this, I was in the loft and the atomsphere was unbeliveable, Bannister and Byrne were taking them apart.

Also beat them the same season away in the League Cup after a draw at home

Those were the days!!!!

Well apart from the 6-0 which I guess will always come out on top, my memory is from the 1973 / 1974 season when we went to Stamford Bridge and drew 3-3.

I’ll never forget it because at the death, Ron Abbott ‘scored’ only for it to be ruled because the ref had blown for full time.

We played Chelsea 4 times that season. Drew both the league games and knocked them out of the cup after a replay.

As an aside, we also beat Sheffield Wednesday 8-2 in the League Cup that season and if memory serves me correctly, we were 2-0 down at one stage! Those were the days!

Any time we beat Chelsea is like heaven to me . . .

But the best has just got to be the 6-0 slaughter at LR – I’ve got the video to prove it was NOT a dream! I remember that my legs were covered in bruises after the game coz I kept jumping up & down, hysterically, as we scored one goal after another and silenced their fans in the School End.

And then, yes, dumping them out of the Milk Cup at their place – that goal from Michael Robinson (I can see it now) – wow! I can’t remember us scoring from the half-way line before or since – at least, not from coz the player on the half-line scored from there!!

But I also remember getting pelted with coins but their hooligan fans during the match which really put me off going to Stamford Bridge (until we drew them in the FA Cup in January 08!)
