Charlton Gaffer Keen On QPR Job, But No Contact Has Been Made

|

Following the departure of Queens Park Rangers manager Steve McClaren earlier this week, plenty of names are swirling around the media with it known we are looking for a replacement and Lee Bowyer is one of the latest names to hit the headlines.

According to a report from Sky Sports yesterday, they loosely cite sources who have claimed that the former Newcastle United midfielder is heavily interested in the vacant spot in our dugout and that he’d be keen to speak to us, but as yet the Loftus Road Board have not made contact with Charlton Athletic, or the man himself.

Having taken Charlton into the Play-Off spots in League One following the departure of Karl Robinson, he has the side just one point shy of matching last season’s points total – where they finished in sixth place in the third tier – and they still have seven games remaining in their season.

With it believed that the club still want to cut our cloth and reduced the wage budget to around £11million next season, clearly, Bowyer falls into the category of someone who is now used to working with restrictions and he has continued to lean heavily on youth.
