Championship Report – Half Time

Vital QPR brings you the half time report from the Championship, which included a goal from a certain want-away midfielder.

In a second half that took a while to get going there was plenty of incident on display with five goals, two dismissals and a plethora of chances to accompany.

Nick Bailey opened the scoring for the day with an excellent strike from distance for his first goal of the campaign, and indeed his first for Charlton Athletic, his reactions was fastest to a clearance from a Jonathan Fortune free-kick.

Arturo Lupoli added to his tally this season to add to Plymouth`s woes as he raced clear of a non existent Argyle defence to place home. The former Arsenal youngster on loan from Fiorentina bagged his third goal of the season for the Canaries on 15minutes.

A long throw caused major issues in the heart of the Watford defence, and Marcus Tudgay was on hand to break the deadlock at Hillsborough to add to his double on the opening game of the season against Burnley.

And as if by magic it was the Clarets who took the advantage away to Nottingham Forest – through veteran Scottish full back Graham Alexander. Wade Elliott`s free kick was not dealt with and Alexander bent an effort home unchallenged to hand the visitors the advantage at the City ground. Forest won`t want a repeat of the five they conceded last time out against Wolves.

Ben Watson`s free kick bamboozled everyone, as the want-away midfielder goes some way to restoring his reputation as he opens the scoring for Palace, the cross come shot drifted into the corner to hand them the advantage over Swansea. It was his first of the season in his first league appearance, looking to fill the void that Tom Soares` departure to Stoke has made.

Two sendings off in a short space of time occurred as a two footed challenge on James Coppinger saw that Tunisian Mehdi Nafti was sent off at St. Andrews for violent conduct. Work to do now for the Blues if they are to maintain their unbeaten record this season. Whilst another sending off came at Home Park, as the trailing Plymouth Argyle lost Hungarian defender Krisztian Timar for a second bookable offence.
