Jay Simpson may be in line for a re-union with Damion Stewart as Bristol City eye the Arsenal front-man.

Out of favour at the Emirates Stadium and poised to exit, Jay Simpson was left out of the Gunners tour to Austria despite a positive start to pre-season.

Nottingham Forest and Millwall have ruled out moves for the former QPR centre forward, who netted 12 times last season.

Bristol City have now emerged as candidates for his signature according to local newspaper Bristol Evening Post with Steve Coppell looking to sign both he and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

City’s ambition has been heightened since the arrival of Coppell with England international goalkeeper, David James, signing for the Robins.

Jay Simpson would be a useful addition to the Robins side and would certainly compliment the already positive attacking line, which includes Nicky Maynard.
