Cerny – the best Championship Keeper

The Football League keeps tabs on goalkeepers` performances across the three leagues. Today they have announced how things stand at the mid-point of the current season.

They base their findings on how many clean sheets a keeper has kept. And Rs very own Radek Cerny is joint first, along with Burnley`s Brian Jensen, on 12 clean sheets. Way to go Cerny!

Bearing in mind the abuse that Cerny received in his first couple of games for us, it is great to see that he has turned things round. His name is reverently cheered when announced before kick-off and he is warmly received by the QPR faithful, who recognise the hard-work and effort he has put in over these past months.

Of course, we should also tip our hats at the QPR defence because they have proved, time and time, impenetrable and we do have one of the best defensive records in the league (even if we could do with boosting our attacking record!)

With such a secure and solid defensive line in front of him, Cerny`s life between the posts has been made that much easier! But let`s take absolutely nothing away from Radek – and I am sure we all wish him the very best for the second half of the season. More clean sheets and, who knows, maybe there will be some glory for our team and for Cerny as an individual?!!
