Cardiff City could be in the frame to swoop for QPR full back Damien Delaney despite continued interest from Ipswich Town.

The 27-year-old defender was rumoured to be on his way to Portman Road earlier in the week with Roy Keane set to sign his fellow Irishman for £750,000, but with Cardiff City`s Roger Johnson moving to Premier League Birmingham City, Delaney has been outlined as a possible replacement.

Wales Online reports that the Bluebirds could be ready to scupper any potential deal to Portman Road, however this may prove tricky with Delaney already expressing his admiration and desire to work with Roy Keane.

Delaney has made 53 appearances for the R`s scoring two goals since joining from Hull City in January 2008. He also had spells with Leicester City and home-town club Cork City.
