Flavio Briatore is taking some time away from Formula One after overturning his ban in relation to ‘Crashgate’.

The Queens Park Rangers co-owner has revealed to Sky Italia that he plans to take time out from the sport owing to parental duties.

He said: ‘F1 will be a long time without Briatore, I am going to take my time for my paternity.’

Regarding the verdict and his frosty relationship with former FIA President Max Mosely he was unrelenting in his criticism – believing that Formula One will prosper as a result of his departure.

‘I have thanks for a democratic verdict where legality has been restored.

‘I hope this is the first step towards a turnaround after years of dictatorship of the will of Max Mosley,’

His shots at the departing Mosely continued as he said a decision was made against him owing to personal revenge and punishment.

‘Mosley likes to punish people,’ added Briatore.

‘He has done it a lot in his private as well as his public life.

‘For a long time I tried to contribute to Formula One. If we arrived at this situation it is because we created FOTA and somebody lost their head.’

Mr Briatore will now have more time to spend at QPR, where he has considerable work to do if Rangers are to achieve a playoff place this season.
