Jay Simpson has told of his delight to bag his first goals for QPR, and also playing in his natural position of striker.

Simpson’s cool finishing put Cardiff City to the sword at the weekend with Queens Park Rangers cantering to a 2-0 win at the newly built Cardiff City Stadium.

The Arsenal loanee believed that the goals were a testament to him playing in his natural position – an out and out striker.

He hit out at former club West Bromwich Albion when speaking to QPR.co.uk believing that they didn’t use him effectively enough during his time at the Hawthornes.

‘I’m really pleased,” said Simpson.

‘It’s great to get off the mark for my new Club and to win the match in such a convincing manner is just as pleasing.

‘I want to be playing up front. That’s my best position. You won’t see the best of me if I’m stuck out wide or playing deep.

‘I’ve always felt I’ll score goals if I play in my favourite position and the gaffer is doing that so I’m really happy.’

The 20-year-old loanee will be looking to take his confidence in front of goal to Premier League Chelsea on Wednesday, as he looks to knock Arsenal’s rivals out of the Carling Cup.
