Russell Booth from Nottinghamshire will be the man in charge as QPR travel to Barnsley this weekend.

Starting out on his refereeing journey in Mansfield, Mr Booth progressed to the National List of Assistant Referees in 1998, before joining the Select Group a year later.

He became a National List referee in 2004 and is plying his trade predominantly in the Championship and League One in recent seasons.

This weekend he will be assisted by Mr Paul Marsden (Lancashire) and Mr Rob Merchant (Staffordshire) with the fourth official Mr Jason Whiteley (West Yorkshire).

So far this season Mr Booth has taken charge of 34 games dishing out 71 yellow cards and three reds, giving him a card average of 2.18 cards per game.

Refereeing Rangers

Mr Booth has already taken charge of a QPR fixture with Barnsley with the R’s securing a home win over the Tykes.

Martin Rowlands struck the only goal of the game in the 15th minute as his shot crept under Tykes keeper Nick Colgan in a scrappy affair in W12.

His second QPR game came earlier this season as Ranger soundly thumped Preston North End in W12, a game that saw an Adel Taarabt wonder-goal.

The Tottenham loanee opened the scoring as he soared past countless men before curling a delightful effort into the top corner.

Further goals from Ákos Buzsáky from the spot, Jay Simpson and Wayne Routledge helped assure the excellent home victory.
