Bahrain trip called off

The trip to Bahrain scheduled for next week culminating in a match against the Bahrain national side on May 7th has been cancelled.

It would seem that a large number of officials of the Bahrain Football Association will be travelling to Kuala Lumpar at this time in support of their President, Shaikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa,who is a candidate for the position of AFC Representative to the FIFA Executive Committee. Obviously they will be busy canvassing votes in support of his election campaign.

The Bahrain FA and QPR are apologising to any fans who have already booked flights and hotels and are willing to discuss compensation following the cancellation. A spokesman for the BFA said ‘We were all really looking forward to welcoming Queens Park Rangers Football Club to our Kingdom, but the FIFA meeting is of paramount importance to us and so we were left with no option.’

However, the tour has only been postponed and plans are being made to make the trip at a later date.

One to add to the list of PR blunders coming out of Loftus Road, bad organisation by the hosts, or just plain misfortune. What do YOU think? Let us know.
