Arsenal are now emerging as strong candidates to sign 14-year-old Raheem Sterling despite continued interest from other clubs.

Manchester City have been heavily linked with the Rangers youngster and the Mirror reported on Monday evening that he was poised for a move to Eastlands.

Not so according to The Sun newspaper today, who suggest that the Gunners are closing in on a deal that would yield £750,000 for QPR in compensation.

Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential candidates for the wonder-kid who has featured in the Rangers reserves already this season.

This comes after the youngster himself pledged his future to Rangers, and his desire to play first team football for QPR.
