Loan winger Gareth Ainsworth has been ruled out for a further six weeks following a calf complaint – and has thus returned to Loftus Road.
Ainsworth had been on loan at Wycombe Wanderers where he starred in victories over Millwall and Brentford – but has since been sidelined with a calf injury.
It appears that following a scan the injury was worse than first feared and so the veteran winger has returned to W12.
Former QPR boss and current Chairboys manager Gary Waddock hasn’t lost hope of Ainsworth returning later this season: ‘I would love to keep him longer term and we’ll see what develops when he recovers,’ he said.
‘The impact he had in only a short spell was fantastic and he gave everyone a lift.’
The combative wide-man had been in sparkling form for Wycombe prior to the injury and a deal to send him back to home would seemingly be in the interests of both parties.
