Ainsworth Next Manager?

Not necessarily the most reliable of sources, and bearing in mind all the betting on more exotic names, like Roberto Mancini or David O’Leary; but the Sunday People are today claiming that Briatore et al are prepared to make Gareth Ainsworth the next QPR manager on a full-time basis.
This is supposedly being announced sometime this week.

Now whether or not it is true, it would be a great relief to finally get the manager’s position resolved one way or another. I do believe the uncertainty of the manager’s post in general and Ainsworth’s position in particular, has not had a particularly all-round positive effect on the team.

Whether one agrees or not on the appointment is moot! But what is indisputable is that the club needs stability and if Gazza is to be ‘the main man’, at least he can then get on with his plans knowing he has another 6 months to put them into effect – not 6 days or 6 weeks!

Worryingly, however, I noted that the paper claims that Rangers’ owners have put the brakes on player spending during the January transfer window! Call me daft, call me stupid, but isn’t this exactly the opposite of what needs to happen in January?! Particularly as we have now lost Akos Buzsaky – and we all know that poor Rowan Vine wont be making a first-team (let alone Reserve team) appearance for the Rs any time soon.

And as for the lack of goals . . . Well, let’s hope that the Board members being there yesterday at the Burnley home game will have noted – again – our inability to finish teams off because we cannot score!
