Lincoln City are still eyeing the appointment of a new manager with Gareth Ainsworth remaining in the frame.

Vital Lincoln are reporting that former boss Graham Taylor is being lined-up for a role at Sincil Bank.

With the club already stating that they are looking for an ‘up and coming manager’, it is assumed that Taylor will be in an overseeing capacity with Stuart Bimson, Gary Brabin, Gareth Ainsworth or Simon Clark favourites for the hot-seat itself.

Ainsworth has featured only once this season, in the Carling Cup demolition of Exeter City following the announcement that he is considered solely a player by the new set-up.

He has been out since then with tendonitis in his thigh, but should be available for selection against Peterborough United on Saturday. With Rangers benefiting from great strength in depth in midfield it is unlikely he will even be considered for the seven man bench.
