With just 10 games remaining in the Championship this season, we are approaching the time where players’ futures must be decided by the clubs.
One player whose future is up for debate is 32-year-old Marc Pugh. And while there are fans who have suggested they do want to see him stay, there is also a large contingency who think that he should be cut from the club’s wage bill next season.
The 32-year-old has featured in 30 games all season – starting 11 in the league – but has failed to be massively impactful. Scoring two goals and two assists, he has earned just an average 6.36/10 from WhoScored’s match rating algorithm.
Should Marc Pugh be handed a contract extension?
Yes, we could do with him
No, better off elsewhere
Fan account @QPRHQ asked the fans whether the former Bournemouth player should get another year on his deal, to which many fans responded.
We’ve picked out some of those who have suggested that he doesn’t deserve a new contract.
Here are some of the replies below…..
There were rumours that he’s our highest paid player. In that case definitely no. He’s done ok and I suspect he’s a good influence but he’s not been outstanding.

Great pro, but I would say no

No, paid too much and would rather a Young player like shodipo get a run out

his wages won’t be anywhere near the rumoured £25k, but I’d still rather we looked at other, younger options for next season.

QPR have had a fairly impressive season this year considering their restraints financially.
With the season heading towards its conclusion, the R’s are stuck in 14th and seem unlikely to get drawn into a relegation or promotion battle. At this moment in time, they are both nine points off sixth and nine points off the relegation zone.
On a more positive note, they are in some decent form, so perhaps if they can take that into the next five or six games they can give themselves a late chance.
