A Royal Bore

A FIRST goal for Pawel Wszolek was not enough as Queens Park Rangers and Reading served up a dead rubber in W12.

Much like last season, it was a tale of two early goals – firstly the improving winger Wszolek latched onto a fine lifted pass from Olamide Shodipo to convert coolly beyond Ali Al-Habsi.

Later in the first half Danny Williams levelled for the Royals when Garath McCleary was given the freedom of Loftus Road to cross for the unmarked midfielder – His finish from close range was a formality.

If the first half was uneventful – albeit with two goals – the second half was a total non-event. Jaap Stam’s side content to retain possession while Rangers lost their shape in search of the victory – throwing on two forward to accompany the flagging Seb Polter.

The German forward did nod wide from close range in the host’s best chance of a forgettable second half.

A fair if laboured point for both sides, who will more than likely be challenging for a mid-table berth come the end of the campaign.
