Premier League boss Richard Scudamore’s plan for an extra round of matches – the ’39th game’ has been shelved.

Yesterday, [Friday 22 February] the FA branded the proposal for an additional weekend of overseas matches as ‘unsustainable’ in its current format.

Even so, Premier League chief executive Scudamore said…

‘The FA haven’t rejected it as it has been interpreted. The FA have said it is unsustainable in its current form. But we haven’t really come to a current form.’

While Scudamore knows there are five major cities around the world who have indicated they would host league games, there is no authorisation from either the FA or FIFA.

It appears the proposal is as ‘dead as a duck’ leaving the Premier Leagues bosses, especially Scudamore with ‘egg on his face’

Any more bright ideas Mr ‘I have a cunning plan destined to fail’ Scudamore?
